Low sensitivity

Hi, we have an ICP-MS-QQQ Agilent 8900. Some days ago, we noted the counts for mass 91 on traditional UP dating on zircons were low. So, we did the PA factor and had a low signal on mass 47. We cleaned the sampling cone and skimmer and did the PA factor again, but the results are the same, look at the following picture and the excel attached:

/cfs-file/__key/communityserver-discussions-components-files/45/PA-factor.xlsx

What should I test now?

  • Hi,

Don't border the low signal for mass 47 in the P/A factor calculation. this doesn't influent the result that much and could be checked in the calibration line curve. If that's acceptable then the P/A calculation is ok. However the peak shape of the Q2 does look quite wide. Is the full startup with the axis/resolution run?

Please check if the performance report give low sensitivity too. if there is low sensitivity please check or changed the nebulizer and related tubing and check with a other set of cones.
