Corrupted batch files in ICP MS

My lab has a 8800 triple quad ICP MS running MassHunter 4.5 (version C.01.05 build 583) on the acquisition computer (Windows 7).  When we take batches to our offline data analysis computer running MassHunter 4.5 (version C.01.05 build 588.3) running Windows 10 we get an error that says the binary file is unreadable and we have to reprocess the batch over.  This is getting to be a pretty common occurrence and we're having to spend a lot of time recreating data that has already been created.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • Hi,

This not an common problem I think. My first simple reaction is to upgrade your offline Windows 7 system to the same build of Windows 10.

Note; Windows 7 isn't support anymore on the end of this month.

Or you can do a clean de-install and install of ICP-MS MassHunter on the offline pc. How to preform a clean de-install of Masshunter could be find on the manual on the MassHunter DVD.

Do you come from a Windows 7 setup on the Desktop pc coupled with the ICP-MS?

if the problem stay with the above steps, please contact you local Agilent Support.

  • Hello

There is a procedure to recover the batch. You can try to do that:

    1. Go to Offline Data Analysis.
    2. File > New batch >create new batch and save as
    3. Go to DA method --> right click> Import DA method from the corrupt/defect batch
    4. Go to batch >Import Samples from the corrupt/defect Batch
    5.  Process

    Thanks

    Regards
