After leak checking, checking flows, changing out column, and replacing the split vent trap filter, I continue to have very irreproducible area count results. Any suggestions?
I have updated the tags for better visibility. The question is a little more complicated. Depending on what you are doing and your application it can vary. The inlet , column and autosampler plays a role in RSD as well. The TCD is a very stable and reproducible detector with quality trapped carrier gas. What are you seeing for RSDs?
The inlet is split/splitless. The insert is a split/splitless insert.
Column DB1. Autosampler tower model G4513A. When injecting a known
stable chemistry the %RSD for area counts is around 6%. My chemistries are
air/ water reactive. Some of these chemistries can range up to 50%.

For the most past on RT and response RSD you should be able to exceed these specifications with most methods. If you want to post your method parameters and an example of a chromatogram, we might be able to see something that will help you.
Were you able to resolve your issues with reproducibility?
The retention time reproducibility (now 0.12%) has improved significantly.
I adjusted the column flow to improve the main peak shape (sharper peak
shape) and it help improve the reproducibility.
The area counts for the main peak are still variable..not sure why.
