Issue

Backing up audit logs from AriaMx ET software

Background

When you need to move your AriaMx ET software installation from one computer to another, it is crucial to transfer the AriaMx audit logs as well. Unfortunately, there is no direct way to transfer the audit logs within the AriaMx software itself. While administrators can export the audit logs to Excel, importing them back is not supported.

To back up and restore your data, you can use SQL Server Management Studio. 

Steps to Follow

  1. Open SQL Server Management Studio: Connect to your SQL server instance.
  2. Select the database: Locate the database that contains your AriaMx audit logs.
  3. Back up the database:
    1. Right-click the database.
    2. Select Tasks>Back Up.
    3. Configure the backup settings and choose a destination for the backup file.
    4. To start the backup process, click OK.
  4. Transfer the backup file to the new computer.
  5. Restore the database:
    1. On the new computer, open SQL Server Management Studio.
    2. Connect to the SQL Server instance.
    3. Right-click Databases and select Restore Database.
    4. Select the backup file that you transferred and complete the restoration by following the prompts.
  
Caution: Customers are responsible for verifying that the backup and reloaded database is complete.
