New UV Lamp Not Working - Lamp Tag Not Ready Error

Created by Max Schütte Max Schütte over 1 year ago | Last modified by Carlos Vargas Carlos Vargas 11 months ago

This Information Applies To: Agilent Variable Wavelength Detectors G1314D, G1314E, G1314F, G7114A/B, and Diode Array Detectors G1315C, G1315D, G7115A, G7117A/B/C.

Issue:

When using UV lamps that do not have the RFID tag built in, the VWD and DAD modules may deliver an error upon exchanging the lamp. Errors can include "UV lamp tag not ready", together with the normal status "UV lamp not ready". This article describes how to resolve this issue.

Steps to follow:

  1. Go to instrument status view in your CDS software OpenLab ChemStation or OpenLab 2. The instrument status windows can be displayed by selecting Method and Run Control > Instrument Control or Status > Instrument Status > Dashboard, respectively. Right-click your detector module and select Control (Figure 1):

Figure 1. Drop-down menu after right-clicking the VWD module

  2. In the control window, depending on your software, driver version, and module firmware, select the corresponding option for the UV Lamp Tag (Figure 2, Figure 3).

The correct option depends on the lamp you inserted, but if installing a lamp without a RFID tag then the appropriate manual mode selection, or always use lamp option can stop the above errors from re-occurring.

Figure 2. Example of the control window for a G1314F in OpenLab 2 - select manual mode for lamps without tag

Figure 3. Example of the control window for a G1365C or G1315D in OpenLab 2 - select always use lamp

If your new lamp still does not work and you have other compatible detectors, try this lamp in a module that is currently running error-free. If the lamp works, the problem lies with your detector. If the lamp does not work, the problem lies with the lamp.

If this procedure does not solve your issue, please contact your local Agilent support representative.
