This Information Applies To: Agilent OpenLab ChemStation
Issue
In OpenLab ChemStation, creating a result set by combining multiple existing result sets can be useful in the following scenarios:
|
Caution: Before creating a combined result set, consider your company's data integrity policies and procedures.
|
Steps to Follow
A new result set is created from data files that you have added to the navigation table.
Launch an offline instrument of OpenLab CDS ChemStation and select the Data Analysis view.
From the left navigation table, double click the sequence or single run of interest. This example uses the LC_Demo1 sequence (see Figure 1).

Right-click another sequence or single run that includes data files that you would like to add into the new result set. From the contextual menu, click Add Data Files... e.g., LC_Demo 2 (see Figure 2).
Figure 2. Select Add data file from another sequence or single run
From the Add Data Files [Sequence Folder] dialog box, select the data files to add to the new result set and click OK (see Figure 3).

The navigation table now includes all data files of interest. Next, press and hold the CTRL key and select the files you want to include in a new result set.
From the Sequence menu, click Create New Result Set. (See Figure 4)
From the Create New Result Set dialog box, select a method to be associated with the new result set, and specify a path and folder name for the new result set. Sort the samples using the tools on the right of the table (optional), then click OK (see Figure 5).
Tips: The position of a blank file (sample type Blank) is relevant for the evaluation of the signal-to-noise ratio as defined by European Pharmacopeia(EP). See also signal-to-noise calculation in OpenLab ChemStation.

You can now see the new result set in the Data Analysis pane. Load it as any other result set (see Figure 6).
