Issue:
Disposing used capillary arrays
Resolution: (For How-To Articles)
For capillary array disposal, we recommend performing a deionized water flush on the capillary array before removing it from the instrument. To perform the water flush, open the instruments’ side compartment to replace the gel 2 bottle with a bottle containing water. From the operations tab located on the main screen window, select Add to queue under the Capillary Array-Conditioning menu and perform the water flush for atleast 10 min at 200 psi. Minimum water required to flush 12 -capillary array is ≥ 12 mL, ≥ 25 mL for a 48-capillary array and ≥ 50 mL for a 96-capillary array. However, please note, the water flush might not remove all reagent residues, so the arrays should be treated as hazardous waste when disposing due to traces of intercalating dye and other substances.
