Can the Agilent 2100 Bioanalyzer be Used to Determine Size of RNA?

Created by Shweta.S Shweta.S over 1 year ago | Last modified by Geoff Pettitt Geoff Pettitt 6 months ago

This Information Applies To: 2100 Bioanalyzer, RNA 6000 Nano kit, RNA 6000 Pico kit, Small RNA kit

Issue:

Is it possible to size RNA on the Agilent 2100 Bioanalyzer system?

Resolution:

Agilent offers total and small RNA assays on the Bioanalyzer.

There are no sizing specifications available for total RNA assays as the assays are not developed or validated for sizing accuracy and precision. However, given that ladder consists of RNA fragments from 200 nt to 6000 nt, it is possible to obtain sizing information in that range. Agilent offers RNA assays that allow characterization of a variety of RNA sample types and estimation of their concentrations. Please refer to our datasheet for the RNA Kits.

Small RNA assay specifications do provide a sizing range. However, like total assay, no sizing accuracy or resolution information is available.
