How to Use Mineral Oil to Prevent Evaporation on Agilent Parallel Capillary Electrophoresis Systems

Created by Geoff Pettitt Geoff Pettitt over 1 year ago | Last modified by Shweta.S Shweta.S 8 months ago

This Information Applies To: 5200, 5300, 5400 Fragment Analyzer, Femto Pulse, Oligo Pro II, and ZAG

Issue:

Adding mineral oil to Agilent parallel capillary electrophoresis DNA marker plates and samples plates prevents evaporation and enables re-use of the plates.

 Caution
Caution: Agilent has not validated adding mineral oil to RNA plates. It is used at the customers own risk.

Steps to follow:

 Tip
Tip: Agilent recommends using mineral oil part number FS-SMO15 to overlay sample or marker plates when appropriate.
  1. Add one drop of mineral oil into each well of the prepared marker or sample plate directly from the mineral oil drop bottle. One drop is equivalent to a volume of 20 µL. See the Quick Guide supplied with kit you are running for information on how soon the mineral oil covered plate should be used.
