PROBLEM:

User was trying to install OpenLAB CDS ChemStation C.01.07 on a new Dell Optiplex 9020 computer. No matter what was tried (reimaging the PC, running the configuration checker in the cab folder on disk 6, disabling firewalls and antivirus software, copying the disks to the hard drive, updating the video drivers etc…) the installation always failed on disk 2.

CAUSE:

The issue appears to have been caused by a conflict between ChemStation and the graphics drivers for the Intel HD 4600 integrated graphics chip. The customer unsuccessfully tried to install ChemStation with graphics driver versions downloaded from the Dell website: versions 9.18.10.3055 and 10.18.10.3960.

RESOLUTION:

The solution was uninstalling the Dell signed driver and installing the newest generic HD 4600 driver from Intel, version 10.18.14.4156. After installing the Intel signed driver ChemStation installed without error.
