We are pleased to announce that the Agilent Community will be updated to a new platform over the weekend of Dec. 11th, 2020. We are confident this upgrade will significantly enhance our customers’ user experience. The list below outlines some important information we wanted to mention prior to the upgrade:
- Schedule Summary:
Dec 9 5PM PST - new account creation disabled
Dec 11 8AM PST - site is put in read-only mode (content freeze)
Dec 11 5PM PST - site unavailable during migration
Dec 13 8AM PST - site is available on new platform
- Availability of the Agilent Community during the upgrade:
- New users will not be able to register and create a community account starting at 5PM PST on 12/9/2020. Existing users will be able to continue to login to create new posts and replies until 8AM PST on 12/11/2020, when the site will be placed in read-only mode. The Agilent Community will be unavailable starting at 5PM PST 12/11/2020 and will be operational again beginning on 12/13/2020 when the upgrade is complete.
- New features and enhancements:
- Use your Agilent.com account to login to the community with your email address. No more keeping track of a different username and password.
- Improved mobile experience.
- Context-aware search engine to better highlight content based on area of the community you are currently viewing.
- Separate email digests by technology for more relevancy.
- Ability to change the name that is displayed for your account across the community.
- A better experience to discover other relevant documents with a Table of Contents navigation pane in each Wiki.
- More ways to give feedback on content, including a feedback form that does not require a login.
- What’s the same:
- The site will be located at the same base URL of https://community.agilent.com.
- NOTE: The URLs to specific areas and content will be changing, so any saved bookmarks you may have will need to be updated.
- Please rest assured that we have listened to your feedback and will be keeping the same streamlined navigation experience, curated support resources, and webinar notifications.
- The site will still offer an intuitive browsing structure organized by Technology (ex: Gas Chromatography, Liquid Chromatography, Mass Spectrometry, Software, etc.).
- Support for translating the posted content in the community to multiple different languages with the automated machine translation solution available in the site header.
- The same great community experience! The Agilent Community will continue to be the best place to collaborate with thousands of other Agilent users and Agilent employees with new content and activity daily.
- The site will be located at the same base URL of https://community.agilent.com.
- What’s different:
- Slight naming convention changes: Spaces are becoming “Groups”, documents are “Wikis”, videos are “Files”, Helpful Answers are “Suggested Answers”, and a few others.
- For some Groups of the community you will need to “Join” the group before being allowed to post or participate.
- On the new site content can only be displayed in one Group and not be "Shared" across multiple community areas.
- What is being migrated:
- Your existing community profile including your name, email address, profile picture, community username, biography, job title, technology selections, and city will be preserved. If you have an existing Agilent.com account, any overlapping profile attributes for your Agilent.com account will overwrite any for your community profile.
- Your accumulated points will be transferred.
- All of your forum threads with replies, likes, and flagged answers will be migrated over.
- Attachments uploaded to posts and any content you have published to the User Contributions area.
- Any email subscriptions setup specifically for following another user (with “Follow > Inbox”). Email subscriptions to areas and content will need to be setup on the new site.
- What is not being migrated:
- Email subscriptions to specific areas or specific content as well as email digest preferences.
- Any Rewards, completed Quests, or Missions (ex: Provide a Correct Answer, Be Liked, Helper, GC Photo, Responder) and badges associated with them.
- Saved bookmarks, skill endorsements, location, join date, and your previous community inbox.
- Any moderated content, private messages, and drafted unpublished content.
- What you need to do:
- We have tried to make this change as easy and seamless as possible. However, a few steps will be required to get setup on the new site.
- If you do not already have an Agilent.com account, you will receive an email that you need to verify your email address and setup your password the first time you login to the new community. Please watch for this email and use the link within it to activate your account on the new system. This email will be sent sometime on 12/11/2020 or 12/12/2020. If you already have an Agilent.com account, you do not need to perform this step.
- Upon your first login to the site, you will need to accept our updated Terms and Conditions.
- After logging in, you should check your new profile and ensure the migrated data is correct and setup your preferences.
- Visit and join the various Groups across the new site where you want to make posts or participate.
- Subscribe to either weekly or daily email digests for the various Groups to stay in the loop with all new activity.
Once again, we are very excited about the forthcoming new and improved experience. Thank you for your membership and being a part of the Agilent Community.
