Micro Gas Chromatography, Environmental Analysis, Sulfur Analysis
Sulfur dioxide is a toxic gas with a pungent, irritating and rotten smell. It is a naturally occurring compound and is found in the atmosphere in low ppb levels. However, sulfur dioxide is a major air pollutant, and has significant impacts upon human health. Sulfur dioxide is primarily produced from the combustion of elemental sulfur for the manufacturing of other chemicals such as sulfite slats, sulfuryl halides and sulfuric acid. It could also be used as preservative for dried fruits and a reducing agent.
This application note demonstartes the low ppm-level analysis of sulfur dioxide in ambient air using Agilent 490 Micro GC.
